EXPLORING FORM & INTIMACY
The design focuses on the fluidity of form and movement within the intimacy of a personal laptop desk. This fluidity is created through the process of bending wood through lamination. The bent forms of the legs encourage movement by emulating the motion of a rocking chair. The desk moves with the user as they transition from a sitting position to a reclining position, thus retaining physical intimacy between the form and the body. The human body informed the design through shape analysis and the study of body movements such as writing, typing, and moving from a seated to a reclined position. The rounded edges and the curvature of top allow the body to come into close contact with the desk, facilitating intimacy.
